Rough sets and intelligent data analysis

چکیده

Rough set based data analysis starts from a data table, called an information system. The information system contains data about objects of interest characterized in terms of some attributes. Often we distinguish in the information system condition and decision attributes. Such information system is called a decision table. The decision table describes decisions in terms of conditions that must be satisfied in order to carry out the decision specified in the decision table. With every decision table a set of decision rules, called a decision algorithm can be associated. It is shown that every decision algorithm reveals some well-known probabilistic properties, in particular it satisfies the total probability theorem and the Bayes theorem. These properties give a new method of drawing conclusions from data, without referring to prior and posterior probabilities, inherently associated with Bayesian reasoning. 2002 Elsevier Science Inc. Rough sets theory in site selection decision making for water reservoirs

Rough Sets theory is a mathematical approach for analysis of a vague description of objects presented by a well-known mathematician, Pawlak (1982, 1991). This paper explores the use of Rough Sets theory in site location investigation of buried concrete water reservoirs. Making an appropriate decision in site location can always avoid unnecessary expensive costs which is very important in constr...

A New Approach for Knowledge Based Systems Reduction using Rough Sets Theory (RESEARCH NOTE)

Problem of knowledge analysis for decision support system is the most difficult task of information systems. This paper presents a new approach based on notions of mathematical theory of Rough Sets to solve this problem. Using these concepts a systematic approach has been developed to reduce the size of decision database and extract reduced rules set from vague and uncertain data. The method ha...

A foundation of rough sets theoretical and computational hybrid intelligent system for survival analysis

What do we (not) know about the association between diabetes and survival time? Our studyoffers an alternativemathematical frameworkbasedon rough sets to analyzemedical data and provide epidemiology survival analysis with risk factor diabetes. We experiment on three data sets: geriatric, melanoma and Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. A case study reports from 8547 geriatric Canadian patients at the Da...

Rough Sets, their Extensions and Applications

Rough set theory provides a useful mathematical foundation for developing automated computational systems that can help understand and make use of imperfect knowledge. Despite its recency, the theory and its extensions have been widely applied to many problems, including decision analysis, data-mining, intelligent control and pattern recognition. This paper presents an outline of the basic conc...

NEW OPTIMIZED EQUATIONS WITH INTELLIGENT MODELS FOR PREDICTING HYDRAULIC JUMP CHARACTERISTICS OVER ARTIFICIAL AND NATURAL ROUGH BEDS

The available studies for estimating the characteristics of hydraulic jump are only for artificial or natural beds, and very limited researches have simultaneously considered artificial and natural beds. The aim of this study is to present comprehensive equations and models for predicting the characteristics of hydraulic jump in artificial and natural rough beds with various dimensions, arrange...

استفاده از تحلیل پوششی داده‌های ناهموار برای ارزیابی تأمین‌کنندگان، مطالعه موردی: گروه صنعتی ایران ترانسفو

Im this paper, the performance of suppliers is evaluated based on their efficiencies. Evaluation environment is not always precise and we may face imprecise for evaluation indexes values. In this situation, traditional and certain models cannot be employed. For overcoming uncertainty problem, there are different models such as stochastic, statistical, Rough, Fuzzy, etc for solving uncertainty e...
